Parkmont School serves a diverse population of students who thrive with more positive reinforcement and more one-on-one interaction. Our families are often driven by the idea that their child’s gifts have not been cultivated in school. Parkmont’s faculty get to know their children and become allies as the students overcome challenges and to get on a path of continued success.

Admissions Process
Parkmont School has rolling admissions. If space is available, you may apply from September through August for current year or the following fall placements. However, we do encourage you to apply from September through early January where possible, for fall admissions, to maximize your chance of being offered a spot.
Please, when you can, follow the sequence of events below to apply.
Fill out this 2-minute form and a member of our admissions team will contact you within 48 hours to schedule the Parent Zoom call and send you admissions materials. You can also call us at 202-726-0740, ext. 2, or email us at [email protected].
The first step in our admissions process is a parent zoom call with our Head of School, Ron McClain. In that call, you can share more about your child, and we will tell you more about Parkmont to determine whether we are a good fit for one another. If it seems that we are, we will then encourage you to apply, and we will schedule a half-day visit for your child to visit Parkmont. Everyone leaves these conversations with more information about Parkmont as well as the larger educational community in which we’re all operating. You can help us by sending us any recent psychoeducational testing ahead of your interview.
Parents will be emailed an application and other materials. We ask that you send us the completed application and a $75 non-refundable application fee (waived for Opportunity Scholarship participants) at least 2 days prior to the student visit so we have time to review it. If you are planning to apply for financial aid, we encourage you to submit it with the application. We also request a transcript and two letters of recommendation, which can come after the student visit.
You can pay the $75 non-refundable application fee via paypal “Pay Now” button below, or may mail a check to 4842 16th Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20011.
After the Parent Interview, we invite parents to schedule a half-day student school visit, during which the student will visit classes and meet with Ron. Appointments are best scheduled during the academic year, September through June, so that your child can meet our community, although we can accommodate families over the summer if needed.
Once you have done the parent zoom, submitted your application, had the student visit, and we have received your teacher recommendations, diagnostic testing and recent report cards, and financial aid form (if applicable), your application is complete! If you are applying during the more traditional admissions cycle, we will give out admissions decisions in March. If it is later, you may not hear from us until a space becomes available.
When considering an application, the admissions team assesses whether Parkmont is capable of supporting a student’s academic success. A student’s previous academic record is of less importance than his or her willingness to take an active part in Parkmont’s program.
“It was such a relief to find Parkmont, where the faculty and staff appreciate my child’s strengths and have compassion for his challenges. At Parkmont it feels like we are all working together to support my student’s progress.”
“Parkmont has unchained the massive talents and insights of my son, by putting him at the center of a world defined by values of caring, understanding and committing. I am grateful for and inspired by the teachers of Parkmont, every day.”
“Parkmont’s team meets every mark in providing an engaging and encouraging environment and curriculum that helps build student confidence so they can all shine at school. It’s remarkable and special just how well these staff understand the needs of kids enrolled there.”
